I found it for the first time in a shop 15 years ago with my mother. She is the one who taught me how to experience it, to understand it. Temporal, but soul enriching joy. Ives both grown and regressed since then, changing a number of times along the way, but at the core of it all that joy still exists and is found the same way it has always been. I fished with my fly fishing mentor and great friend this weekend for what will be the last time before my family and I make the move to Oregon. I went back to where it all started and found that initial joy and learned how to appreciate it again....

2014. Rewind and Fast Forward

Well that was a butt kicking. 2014 followed a year in 2013, that I thought I had experienced some of the worst fishing of my life. Stripers have taken over my mental energy for some time now for some unknown reason and they have yet to come even close to reciprocating.The usual summer suspects of North AL were more than accommodating this year and the dinosaur dig site that is Mcmethville continues to provide excitement and gratification. Super Torture

It's super torture. The past week has just been the same thing at the office waiting on this trip to come. It's been a week, and will probably be the same until we leave, of just the same mind-raping repetitive clock in and clock out everyday until we leave. What scares me even more is when we get back. Sure we will be on a fishing high for weeks or months to follow but if no big trips are planned like the magnitude of this one its the same thing until next year when we do something again.
